A southern Illinois doctor is combating a resistant bacteria with an unusual treatment. Clostridium difficile, or C. diff, is a bacterium that can cause severe diarrhea or inflammation of the colon. Ronald Murphy, 60, of Herrin, was diagnosed with C. diff several months ago. “I developed a diarrhea, you know, it was embarrassing. I mean, it got to be uncontrollable,” said Murphy.  Murphy isn’t sure how he got it, but traditional antibiotics weren’t helping.  “It almost killed me,” he said. Finally after months of being in and out of the hospital, doctors suggested Murphy get a transplant, but it was unlike any transplant he’d heard of before.  “At first I laughed because they said it was a fecal transplant….
